The Jain GeneSys flow control sprinkler is making variable rate application in irrigation a reality. The Jain GeneSys uses a customized field prescription map to match water and nutrients requirements to specific field areas. Growers wirelessly control diameter and flow rate of each sprinkler. The Jain GeneSys flow control sprinkler is designed for use with center pivot operating systems.
True Variable Rate Application
The Geneys sprinkler is true precision irrigation. Users control an exact dose of water and nutrients. Growers can expect to reduce water use by 20% – 30% while experiencing increasing yields.
Fields and crops can have many different requirements for nitrogen and other inputs. The GeneSys sprinkler is self-contained, self-powered, and has two-way communication capabilities for growers to use variable rate application for irrigation and nutrient applications. Growers customize the revolution speed, droplet size, and diameters to most efficiently water their crops.

How Does It Work?
The GeneSys sprinkler attached to a center pivot operating system. You control flow rates wirelessly. Growers can make flow rate adjustments with a finely adjustable valve. No power is needed because each unit has a maintenance-free rechargeable battery (recharged by the system). The sprinkler status creates a report communicated back to the user. This is truly plug and play; no interface is needed to operate the unit.
The variable value gives growers the option of adjustment from 4 GPM to 20GPM. They set a 10″ to 25′ radius and create any combination of flow and radius on up to 150 units.
Accomplishments
The GeneSys sprinkler was successfully tested at the Center For Irrigation Technology at Fresno State University. It completed field tests in Nebraska during the 2016 and 2017 growing seasons. In 2012 the GeneSys was named the Irrigation Association’s New Product Contest People’s Choice Award in the Ag category.
Every day we hear lots about variable rate application in irrigation. In the past irrigation meant turning on a valve to supply water to many sprinklers. The Genesys changes that situation giving growers the chance to apply water by each sprinkler. In a time when the water supply is decreasing, and the demand for food is increasing the GeneSys sprinkler may be just in time for food producers.
